Property Accountant
Leston Holdings is a property management and development company with a growing portfolio of multi-family residential properties throughout Edmonton.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Property Accountant to join our growing property management team.
This role supports both residential and commercial property portfolios and is responsible for day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, and vendor/tenant accounting.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Complete full cycle accounting for assigned properties, including journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and intercompany entries.
- Prepare monthly financial packages including income statements, balance sheets, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
- Identify and investigate unusual or material variances and collaborate with operations to resolve.
Tenant & Property Accounting
- Oversee tenant ledger accuracy—including rents, deposits, charges, credits, and move-outs.
- Manage security deposit tracking, adjustments, compliance, and refunds.
- Support lease administration, rent rolls, and rent escalation calculations.
Banking & Reconciliations
- Complete weekly bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
- Ensure deposits are recorded to the correct post month and aligned with statement dates.
- Assist with trust and compliance reporting.
Payables & Receivables
- Review and approve invoice coding for accuracy and capitalization versus expense treatment.
- Support AP and P2P workflows to ensure invoices flow through the correct approval channels.
- Monitor aging reports, tenant receivables, and follow up as needed with property teams.
Systems, Process, and Compliance
- Work within Yardi (or equivalent PM software) and assist in refining system usage.
- Contribute to internal control improvement, documentation, and training.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; working toward CPA is an asset.
- 2+ years’ experience in residential or commercial property accounting (preferred).
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial statements.
- Proficiency with Yardi Voyager or similar software is a strong asset.
- Excellent Excel and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
